The Studio of Performing Arts - Springfield (SOPA) is the premier provider of Dance + Circus classes in Greater Springfield. Offering ballet classes as well as jazz, tap, contemporary dance, circus, acrobatics and musical theatre classes for students from 2 years of age to adult. In 2021 we celebrated 15 years! Bringing love of the Arts to the Greater Springfield region. Not just a dance school or a ballet school. Students at SOPA have the opportunity to learn circus acts alongside their nationally accredited ballet syllabus.
SOPA is proud to be the only dance school in Australia that is a registered provider of OSHC through their popular Vacation Care program. Registered to accept 45 school aged students a day. Students are provided with high quality care from a team of caring professionals. This program caters to over 1000 students each year, giving them a taste of the STEAM life or perhaps extending on their personal interests in STEM and the Arts.
During each school term SOPA provides over 92 classes each week to more than 320 students each week through their School Term Program. Students have the opportunity to participate in Dance classes that can include Classical Ballet, Jazz, or Hip Hop exams with The Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD). In January and February of each year, students from Grade 3 and above can join Performance Teams, participating in two local eisteddfods during Term Two as well as two concerts a year. If you are interested in furthering your Dance experience and becoming a qualified Dance Teacher enrol into the Certificate IV Dance Teaching & Management with The Studio and study face-to-face with leaders in the field of Dance Education. Students must have completed their Elementary dance examinations or equivalent as a pre-requisiste to this course.
Add to the extensive School Term Program and Vacation Care, the professional industry connections that SOPA has and you have it all in one package. Lennon Entertainment Group is a semi-professional company which employs graduates and Senior students in paid professional gigs around Greater Brisbane. Students are able to audition from 14 years of age in November of each year, once having completed one full year of training and representing in Performance Teams at SOPA.
The difference is simple, SOPA employs a team of professional teachers to lead and guide students in The Arts. Every dance, acting, music and acrobatic lesson is student centred ensuring each student achieve their very best outcomes. Students train in air-conditioning with full Acromat flooring, mirrors, barres, aerial apparatus, and HARLEQUIN dance floor. This allows students to train more effectively during their classes. With 4 Rehearsal Spaces that are soundproofed, students are able to focus on their lessons and achieve their best. Students have successfully auditioned for Ipswich Musical Theatre Society, Brisbane Arts Theatre, Transit Dance, New Zealand School of Dance as well as many university positions.
BAND is another vital part of our curriculum. Parents and students have access to this safe online portal to continue their learning outside the classroom. Band provides students with an incredible opportunity to practice at home and for parents, grandparents and friends to see inside the classrooms.

With professional school teachers and a wonderful mixture of visiting Artists including Chris Jordan, Gareth Belling, Clare Morehen, Jayden Grogan and Those Tap Guys. SOPA ensures students are taught through the latest best practice. In 2012, the company migrated from nearby Greenbank with just over 100 students. SOPA offers the very best space to allow students to grow through the Arts.

Our son has been going to the After Hour School Care at The Studio and he loves it! Their Vacation Care program not only gives the kids structured social interactions with others, they also provide daily workshops like dance, acrobatics and aerial circus. This past school holidays it was Hop Hop and Drama. My very shy 6 year old comes home busting new dance moves all around the house. I can confidently say it has definitely helped build his confidence and he is excited to go each time.
