Welcome to The Studio of Performing Arts - Springfield (SOPA), proudly part of the Springfield, Queensland community since 2007. Our mission is to help children grow through the Arts by offering the highest quality dance and circus training in Springfield. What Makes SOPA Unique?

SOPA is more than just a dance or circus school. Students explore a nationally accredited dance syllabus while also learning unique circus acts. Our innovative approach combines the performing arts with many varied performance opportunities.

Australia's Only Dance School Offering OSHC

SOPA is proud to be the only Australian dance school registered as an OSHC (Outside School Hours Care) provider. Accommodating up to 45 school-aged children in Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care. This program introduces over 1,000 students annually to learning through the Arts, extending their personal interests and understanding.

Comprehensive School Term Program

During the school term, SOPA offers over 92 classes weekly to more than 320 students. Classes include Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and more, with examination opportunities through the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD). Students can join our Performance Teams, participating in eisteddfods and bi-annual concerts.

Pathway to Professional Dance Teaching

SOPA also offers the Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management, a face-to-face program for aspiring dance teachers. Students must complete their Elementary dance examinations or equivalent before enrolling. Learn directly from the leaders in Dance Education.

Professional Opportunities with Industry Connections

SOPA students audition for paid gigs and full-time training institutions. SOPA graduates have successfully auditioned for prestigious institutions like Transit Dance, New Zealand School of Dance, Dynamite Studios, Queensland College of Dance , and university programs.

SOPA provides students with the best environment to thrive. Facilities include:

500 sqm of air-conditioned, purpose-built space
Acromat flooring, mirrors, and barres
HARLEQUIN dance floors
Four soundproof rehearsal spaces
Aerial apparatus for circus training
Student waiting area & kitchenette

These facilities enable students to focus, train effectively, and achieve their best outcomes.

BAND: A Vital Learning Tool

SOPA integrates the BAND app, an online portal where students continue learning outside the classroom. Parents, grandparents, and friends can also get a glimpse into the classroom, enhancing the learning experience.

SOPA is home to 14+ professional educators and hosts visiting artists such as Chris Jordan, Gareth Belling, Clare Morehen, Jayden Grogan, Jordan Lennon, Shalya Waterson, Rania Osborne, and Those Tap Guys. SOPA educators ensure students learn through the latest best practices in the Arts.
